Fun starter kit
Everything goes together as it should. The pieces are good quality. There are a lot of smaller pieces vs the bigger pieces.No booklet included, just a pamphlet with simple builds. Doesn’t show how to build more complex things like on the covers.You’ll probably want to use a storage tote instead of the bag that it comes with. It doesn’t hold up well.Overall, it’s fun to play with. I think my son is on the young end so I can see him having more fun as he gets older. At $27 at the time of this review it seems to be priced comparatively to other items and is a good starter kit.

Great K’Nex set but instructions are disappointing
I am excited to see K’Nex making a comeback on the market. My 5-year-old inherited some older K’Nex pieces from my brother and has become somewhat obsessed with building, even though he does not really create anything representational yet. He just enjoys the process of connecting pieces together and seeing what happens.I had trouble finding newer K’Nex sets available until I came across this one. The set includes a fair number of pieces with good variety: classic connectors, wheels and tires, and some of the smaller-scale pieces that add different building possibilities. It has brought new interest and expanded what we can create with the pieces we already have.One of the best aspects is how compact this toy is relative to what can be built with it. This makes it a really practical set to pack for vacations, keep at the grandparents’ house, or bring along on trips without taking up too much space.My main frustration is with the instructions. The set comes with a single fold-out sheet that shows just a few models, and many of them are pretty underwhelming compared to the impressive builds shown on the box packaging. There is a URL provided for accessing a longer PDF online with additional models, but honestly, a lot of the “80 models” they promise are just basic 2D shapes rather than interesting three-dimensional constructions. The instruction quality itself is also fairly lacking compared to other building sets. Multiple build steps are crammed into the same diagram without clear progression, and there is no parts list showing what pieces you need for each step. This makes it harder to follow along, especially for kids trying to build independently. When compared to how Lego does instructions these days (app with step-by-step, rotatable instructions), K’Nex definitely feels “retro” in a negative way.Despite the instruction issues, the pieces themselves are high quality, and the variety makes this a solid addition to any K’Nex collection.

Nice starter set with both the classic parts and smaller micro parts
I had K’nex as a kid and remember having a lot of fun building random cars, towers, Ferris wheels, etc. I got this set so that my child could have the same experience. I didn’t realize that K’nex not only makes the old “classic” pieces but now also makes smaller “micro” pieces. I like that this set includes both. I wish I had some micro pieces too when I was a kid, as I think they are better suited for smaller models like cars and animals. The classic pieces are still great for making large structures. The micro pieces are probably better for older children, but I think the classic pieces would be fine for as young as 5.The plastic parts feel and click together the same as I remember. I was a little disappointed that the included instructions only show a few basic builds, and you have to look up the rest online. However, I think the beauty of K’nex is to just make something up. It doesn’t have to be very precise or perfect, and the basic pieces are suited for experimentation and quick builds, more so than Lego.The bag that the pieces come in is resealable, but I don’t think storing them in a bag long term is a great idea. I definitely recommend some sort of tub or box so that you can see the parts (the bag has no transparency) and get to them easily. The back of the bag has a count of all the pieces.

Amazing 80 models for a super value!
This set is an amazing value with over 400 pieces to build 80 different models making this the ultimate gift for bored kids. Any kids interested in building, engineering or construction will love this as a gift and spend hours building the various models. The KNEX set includes an assortment of 408 high quality pieces that can be configured into almost any creation you can think of. With no batteries needed and no USB plugs or apps needed this set really helps kids unleash their creativity in ways that don’t involve screen time. Everything comes in a resealable plastic Ziploc bag for easy storage and these KNEX pieces are compatible with other KNEW set so this is a great upgrade for anyone that already has KNEX building sets.

Small bag but lots of parts. Some of them are very tiny.
This is a pretty good set of KNEX to get started with. It comes with instructions to build a variety of things, although they are more of example photos than true instructions. The build quality is exactly what you would expect from a name brand like KNEX. My only complaint is that there seems to be two different sizes. One set in there is the regular size that I’m used to, but then there are some very small ones. I’m talking teeny tiny. Unfortunately, a lot of the part count is taken up by these super small pieces. But either way, this is still a good set to get started with.
