How does it work?
Turn your pen on, wait for the green light, insert a strand of filament into the back of your pen until you feel it grip. One click of the orange button is all it takes to get the Start+ pen running, and a second click will stop the pen.
Which plastic refills can be used? Is it safe?
The 3Doodler Start+ 3D Pen is only compatible with the 3Doodler Start Plastic filaments which is 2.5mm in diameter. The strands are made from the highest quality materials and have all been subjected to the strictest standards of safety testing.
Is the pen safe for children?
3Doodler Start plastic is warm to the touch when extruded from the tip of the pen, completely safe to touch! Pen tip doesn’t get hot either, so there is no burn risk. Safely use your hands to shape your Doodles to perfection before they harden.

My son loves this 3D doodler pen! It doesn’t get hot so he can touch it and mold the filament however he wants to . You do have to buy extra filament because they are short and don’t last very long so you have to add another, but that isn’t really a problem . Besides that, it works great and he loves creating different things with it !

Great customer service!
My 9 year old son loves making creations with this. I was more impressed with the customer service. Ours stopped working a month or so after he started using it. I contacted the company and they sent a new pen immediately. I sent the one that wasn’t working back to them and they took a look at it and provided us feedback and instructions on why it stopped working so we wouldn’t make the same mistake with the new one. Can’t find much good customer service anymore and I was pleasantly surprised with this company.

Solid Starter 3D Pen — Great for Beginners Like Me
This was my first time ever touching a 3D pen, so I went into it with zero expectations and a whole lot of curiosity. And honestly? It surprised me. I know, I know it was for kids…but, hey we all have to start someone and don’t have the funds to be shelling out for the big kid toys. The pen itself is lightweight, easy to hold once you figure out your grip, and simple enough that a kid could use it — which works for me because I wanted something beginner-friendly before committing to the big, grown-up 3D printers.And one more little tad bit info…the pen tip stays warm, so you still want to keep it away from small kids while it’s running. It’s safe, just not something you leave sitting around unattended.It does take a minute to get your hand steady and learn when to cut the flow so you’re not left with extra strings. My first little flower looks like it’s fighting for its life, but that’s a “me” issue, not a pen issue. The pen feeds the filament smoothly, heats up fast, and is perfect for practicing techniques or sketching out small prototype ideas before moving to anything serious.The only thing I’ll say is: don’t expect professional-level lines right out the box. This is a true starter tool — but for the price and for learning the basics? It does exactly what it needs to do. Solid pen, no regrets.

Pros and Cons
My 7 year old had been wanting a 3D pen forever so I purchased this one. It’s a great starter pen but has its flaws. The battery life is awful. I charged it until it indicated it was fully charged and only got a couple of hours max each time. Also the short filler sticks make it hard to make things. Much longer rolls of each color would be so much better. We’re going to keep it only because we’ve already thrown the box away and used some of the material but I wish I would have known these things prior to ordering.

This is a great way for your imaginative child to spend their time! And if your child is looking to design things then this tool will give them many hours of happy memories and fun. It is safe and easy to use for children to create whatever they desire. It doesn’t get hot and it’s easy to use just inset the plastic stick and away you go! With so many different color options available children can be creative with the doodler all year long. I’m very impressed with this tool and its design it’s been a year since we got ours. And it has been great. The only issue is keeping up with the demand of refilling the wishlist for more colors!!

The best 3D pen for kids! It is so easy to use, not hot to touch and it comes with a mat to make 3D art on as well as a guide for ideas and templates to create cool projects. I should’ve ordered extra plastic inserts as my daughter has used up almost all of those that came with the starter kit already (it’s only been a few days!). I definitely recommend for all of the creatives out there.

Love this thing. Works perfectly and the kids love it and use it often. Couldn’t be happier with this purchase. The heat is so low that you can touch the tip without pain but hot enough to get the plastic to that perfect viscosity. This pen has a great grip and makes it easy to 3D draw with kid hands and adult hands alike.
